History of the Land Rover Discovery Sport

The Discovery Sport was originally introduced in 2015 to replace the Freelander, which had been on the road 17 years by that point. The vehicles saw major structural changes from the old model to the new, with the Freelander's strut suspension switched out for a more compact arrangement. The new multi-link suspension allowed for more space in the cabin above, and the Discovery Sport came with seating for seven. The new model also sported impressive technology like forward-facing cameras that could trigger an automatic emergency brakes if needed.

Land Rover has continually sought ways to improve upon the Discovery Sport's capabilities, and the vehicle has received a number of updates with each new model. It was equipped with a variety of new technology options in 2017, and rolled out of the assembly line in 2018 with enhanced powertrain options.
